What’s In a Name?

September 15, 2010

I was surprised to open an e-blast from Advanstar International Motorcycle Shows (IMS) today to see a new logo adorning the page. It looks like the IMS have a new sponsor in Progressive Insurance company. The former sponsor of 17 years, Cycle World Magazine, has been dropped in favor of Progressive.

I was going to reprint a portion of Advanstar’s press release, but the communications giant has strict licensing requirements for anyone wishing to share a portion of their published material. I’m just not willing to go through the process, so you’ll have to click on the link and go read about it on their website.

No matter the sponsor, I’m looking forward to this year’s event, which may find me working a booth or the floor with Christina Shook or Greg Ziemer, or helping in the Women’s Center. Maybe I’ll have a chance to do all three over the course of the weekend!

Online ticket sales have just opened for three of the venues: Dallas, San Mateo and Seattle. There are worthy seminars, lots of information, gear to compare (and buy), and of course, the latest offerings from the bike manufacturers. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing the new Kawasaki ZX10R superbike at this year’s show. And, I particularly enjoy the selection of vintage bikes. Gotta buy a raffle ticket or two as well…

If you want to be surrounded by all things motorcycle, the IMS is the best place to soak it all in for a day or two. Get this on your calendar. Today.

Will you travel with the IMS across the states? Love to tweet-up in Minneapolis if possible!
